— HIERARCHY —


ANGELIC RANKS (IN ORDER OF POWER)

Archangels – the highest ranking angel to walk the Earth, they oversee human affairs; they are placed on Earth every few hundred years to chart humanity’s progress; they can compel humans to choose to be virtuous rather than sinful; they represent the Eight Virtues: Joy, Humility, Liberality, Patience, Diligence, Chastity, Abstinence, and Kindness

Archangel Heirs – the children of two Archangels

Nephilim – the children of one Archangel and one human; human women often die giving birth to the children of male Archangels

Angelborne Halfbreed – children conceived by an angel and a demon, delivered by an angel

Sentinels – guardian angels who take the angelic form that is the lower half of a land-dwelling creature (Landborne) or a sea-dwelling creature (Seaborne); (slang: nymph {for Landborne Sentinels} and siren {for Seaborne Sentinels})

Authorities – another name for avenging angels, especially the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse; known for having some sort of power or authority over a certain topic, such as famine or war

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Conquest, War, Famine, and Death (reference: Revelation 6)

Saints – humans who have been ordained by Archangels or the Church for a holy purpose


DEMONIC RANKS (IN ORDER OF POWER)

Deceivers – the highest ranking demons to walk the Earth, they are shapeshifters; they tempt humans in the form of a human or as an invisible force; they represent the eight Cardinal Sins: Sorrow, Pride, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Lust, Gluttony, and Envy

Demonborne Halfbreed – children conceived by an angel and a demon, delivered by a demon

The Fallen (slang: swampers, cerebus) – fallen angels



— IMPORTANT TERMS —


GENERAL

A History of Hierarchy – a book written by Saint Michael that details the angelic and demonic hierarchy on earth, along with information about the Iterations, Four Horsemen, and RUST; the information on RUST is only included in the Revised Edition (republished in 2085)

Fallen – a term used to describe an angel who has “fallen from grace”; for Sentinels this means breaking the Sentinels’ Law (drinking blood) and for other angels it means to turn their back on God

Iterations – this refers to the different incarnations of the Archangels, Archangel Heirs, and Four Horsemen on Earth

Armageddon or The Battle of Armageddon – (also: the Final Battle) the final battle waged between angels and demons at the end of the world

Unseen Wars – invisible battles between angels and demons that happen on Earth, during day-to-day life, especially during storms or other natural disasters

God-Given Names – angelic names given by God to high-ranking angels and avenging angels, such as the Archangels and Four Horsemen

Sanctuary – a land, building, or area protected by memory altering affects of some angels; places where angels can go without keeping up an act; humans may encounter angels and be aware of it but will forget the happening as soon as they leave the Sanctuary; demon Sanctuaries also exist

Marks – protections cast by angels, much like spells or enchantments; some examples are Binding Marks, which suppress the affected’s power, and Cloaking Marks, which hide one’s true nature from being detected

Archangel Tattoo – a tattoo which Marks the ranks of Archangel, Archangel Heir, Nephilim, or Halfbreed

Holy Water – water which has been prayed over by high-ranking angels or saints

Black Magic – magic granted by the Devil or other high-ranking demons

Deathbenders – assassins employed by Cephan in RUST, they are able to die and come back to life repeatedly

The Soul Stitch – a compass brand, burned onto Deathbenders’ skin with Hellfire, which is able to prevent one’s soul from moving on to a different plane; it keeps the Deathbenders’ souls in the Abyss so they can be brought back to life


THE SWORDS

Ferro, “The Sword of the Sentinels” – this is the sword that was forged by the Archangels for Mars; in a past Iteration, it was sheathed in a stone as Mars died in battle, then renamed Excalibur in human legends

Scriptor de Mortem, “The Author of Death” – this is the sword that was forged by the Archangels for Mori; it was reforged in Hell to be a double-sided scythe

Scriptor de Exitium, “The Author of Destruction” – this is the sword that was forged by the Archangels for Hades; it was reforged in Hell to be a bident



— LOCATIONS & ORGANIZATIONS —


THE FIVE PLANES

Heaven – the first and highest plane; this is where God and the angels reside

The Mediating Grounds – the plane between Heaven and Earth; this is where angels and demons alike come to report to God’s Spokeperson

Earth – the midplane, where humans exist; angels and demons also have the ability to move about in this plane, interact with humans without revealing their true nature, and sway Earthly battles

The Abyss – the plane between Earth and Hell, this is where RUST exists; there is no light in this plane

Hell – the last and lowest plane, where Satan and the demons reside


OTHER LOCATIONS

North Academy – an advanced high school academy for those with angelic blood, founded by Valentine North

North Institute – a medical institute well-known for curing cancer, founded by Valentine North

North Tower – the headquarters of North Institute; located in the heart of Jacksonville, Florida

RUST – blacklisted assassin organization, banned from killing besides after dark; the assassins employed here exclusively wear black; founded by Cephan, located within the Abyss

Hell’s Alley – a portal to Hell, located within the Bermuda Triangle

The Angels’ Diner – a Sanctuary owned by Joshuah Braidensen

The Angels’ Archive – an archive that includes the angels’ history and knowledge which any angel descendant can access via pressing angelic blood to a library door handle

The RUST Archive – an archive that includes files of RUST targets, located in The Abyss

Venatici – the daughter of the Canes patrician family, whose family has been accused of treason (earlier incarnation of Venatrix Canes)

Orion – one of the Gemini assassin twins (earlier incarnation of Orion Jude)

Serpens – a Scandinavian thief who’s befriended Corvus and Ophiuchus (earlier incarnation of Jayren Omans)
