Author Interview: Tales as Dark as Time (Grimmy's Corner)

This year I have the absolute honor of being an attending author at a new book convention in Hershey, Pennsylvania called Tales as Dark as Time. The event is ticketed and will take place on July 25th, 2026. Tickets can be purchased on the event's host site by clicking here.

Below is an interview hosted by Tales as Dark as Time and book influencer, Summer Maenner.

What genre do you write in?

I write and illustrate books in every genre.

What is your favorite cold weather comfort food/meal?

Hot chocolate!

What was your last read?

The Bone Below by Sylwia Koziel. She is the first author who has ever put me in a book hangover, so I highly recommend her work. She also writes under the pen name K.C. Silver.

Who are your favorite fairytale villains?

Do the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse count?

If you could turn any villain into a hero, who would it be and why?

I love this question because it's truly what I did with my fantasy series, Angels' Compass. In 2018 before I started writing, I researched all the ways the Four Horsemen had been portrayed in media. Every time, they had been portrayed as villains.

From a Biblical standpoint (which my series lore is based on), the Four Horsemen are released by God as a final destruction. This final destruction is viewed as a good thing from Heaven's side. In this sense, they are heroes.

This was such an interesting way to portray the characters in my series, especially because readers typically assume that the good guys will save the world. In my books, the goal is to end the world.

What is your favorite what to kill off a character?

As a literary author, I always prefer to make deaths as realistic as possible, as opposed to a shock factor. I write about assassins and war, and I feel strongly that not every main character should survive war.

What is your most current book written or that you are currently writing, and tell use a little about it.

I am currently writing a contemporary romance called Rose Tide & Rust. It is part of my Tides of Amelia Island series which is a contemporary retelling/AU of my Four Horsemen characters from Angels' Compass.

It follows Nathan and Sophia, both who are artists, as they find themselves in a compromising situation of being roommates. They both plan to enter a local art competition but run into drama with an abusive ex, an arrest, and an accidental pregnancy. It's definitely one of the messiest books I've ever written.

What tropes are in this book?

Inheriting Armageddon and Tempest of Angels (from the series Angels' Compass) include angels and demons, angelic academia, morally gray characters, found family, a bildungsroman structure, a literary bent to the writing, and a dystopian world.

Rose Tide and Rust includes love at first sight, artist main characters, art competitions, accidental pregnancy, and motorcycle clubs.

What part of Tales as Dark as Time are you most looking forward to?

Traveling to a place I've never been before!

Will you be doing anything special at your table that reader/attendees should know about in advance?

I am always offering early ARC signups and looking for beta readers. I write in all genres, so I've got something for everyone and would love to build my ARC/beta/street team.

I also will be offering a free short story about my Four Horsemen characters with a newsletter signup. It is called Tempest of Angels and it introduces readers to the world of my fantasy series, Angels' Compass.

There is a high possibility that I will also have temporary tattoos for sale at my table so that readers can rock some amazing 4pocalypse Arts hand-drawn work. (Looking into options now!)
