“Fine. Done deal, Kat.” Corbin loops the ball chain around his neck on his thumb and fishes out the gold-and-diamond ring hanging there. “What do you say?” He holds it up between us, and it sparkles wildly in the space before his eyes. His eyes gleam equally as bright.
I put my hands on my hips. “We can see how it goes.”
Corbin shows his teeth in a wide smile. “I’ll take it.” Corbin takes the chain off his neck with a move so natural that it finally occurs to me why I’ve never seen him naked with the ring on his chest. He undoes the chain and holds the ring carefully between his fingers. Even still relying on one crutch, his movements are effortless. Practiced.
